How to Add More Coconut to Your Diet

If you want to get the full range of health benefits of coconut, you should add it to your diet. This is really easy to do with a combination of coconut meat, coconut oil, coconut water, and coconut milk. As you can see, there are tons of forms of it, providing a lot of excellent ways to use it in your regular diet.

Use Coconut in Your Smoothies

A really easy way to get more coconut into your diet is to put it in your smoothies. There are actually multiple ways to do this.

First of all, you can replace the milk in your smoothie with coconut milk instead. You can also add shredded coconut inside your smoothies or top a smoothie or smoothie bowl with the shredded coconut.

If you need more liquid in the smoothie, go ahead and add some coconut water to it, or make some coconut water ice cubes for the ice portion of the smoothie. Finally, you can add a little bit of coconut oil to your smoothies.

Cook With Coconut Oil and Milk

Both coconut oil and coconut milk are great for cooking with. Coconut oil can be used to replace just about any other oil, providing more nutrients and less toxic oils.

You should start reducing how often you use vegetable oil, canola oil, and corn oil, and use more natural oils like coconut oil and olive oil.

Try to find virgin pressed coconut oil if you are cooking with it. You can also use both coconut milk and coconut oil in various baking recipes.

Sprinkle Some Coconut Shavings on Treats

Coconut shavings are made by shredding the coconut meat, which can be used to top just about any treat you like to enjoy.

You can put them on your morning cup of coffee, baked goods, ice cream, frozen yogurt, and even a yogurt you enjoy in the morning.

When making baked treats like muffins, cookies, and scones, go ahead and add some coconut shavings to them. You will really enjoy the end result.

Drink Coconut Water and Milk

Finally, if you are looking for different drinks that also incorporate more coconut, you could always have just straight coconut milk or coconut water.

With coconut water, you are getting more hydration and it doesn’t have calories or fat in it. Coconut milk can be found in light and unsweetened versions.

Enjoy!
